Day 2 Edinburgh to Perth

Mileage: 50

After a lovely nights sleep and wonderful all you can eat breakfast at the Gillis Centre in Edinburgh, we made our way up to Edinburgh Castle before we went on our way. Preparations are underway for the world famous Edinburgh Tattoo, and it was too good an opportunity to miss - despite it being uphill!

From Edinburgh we cycled north through the unrelenting rain, crossing the Forth Road Bridge, which afforded us spectacular views of the Firth of Forth, and the historic Forth Bridge. After a brief stop at an excellent (and cheap) cafe in Inverkeithing, we continued on through Kinross, passing Loch Leven and its millions of midges to Glenfarg, from which it was a relatively short hop to Perth. Following on from yesterday, the views were again stunning. Scotland really is beautiful!

Despite the rain, and the midges, we arrived at our accommodation in good spirits, and enjoyed a dinner of the classic combination of haggis and aubergine. Our contentment did not end there - the availability of tumble dryers is a luxury we could easily get used to. Although it is probably best we do not.

Apologies again for the lack of photos; hopefully we will have access to a computer tomorrow. Bed time.
